Boehme's Vision
The Hand of Good
Jacob Boehme (✝1624) was one of the greatest mystics produced by the Western world. Born in Silesia a shoemaker by trade he was granted visions and dreams that sought to unravel the deepest mysteries. A common man without special education in religion, philosophy, or science he spent his life trying to explain his visions leaving many books to share his dreams of grace coming from Heaven.*
The image in the drawing is a hand descending from Heaven delivering the Lilium (Lily) or symbol of eternal recurrence. It could be said that the Lilium is also the mark of the Perennial Wisdom. It is the April illustration in the book.
Also interpreted as the sign of Universal Grace being delivered to human beings as a gift from God. Boehme deciphered signs and symbols through his visionary experiences and then wrote several books on the subject despite persecution by Lutheran church officials.
He lived during a period where there was reform in the philosophical establishments and his work attracted many admirers in powerful places. These patrons protected him so he could continue his writing. However by the time of his death the forces of the Counter-Reformation seized power in central Europe and the ideas of Jacob Boehme were submerged for decades but never erased from history.

You always amaze me. Annie’s drawings snd your prose, unbeatable. THE gift.
The drawing, Boehme’s Vision , is the April illustration from the book. It is a reinterpretation of a very old woodcut print, likely 16th century. Annie did an outstanding job bringing this image into a contemporary look. She gave it a timeless feel. I posted it in two newsletters hoping to bring attention to her fine work.
