Reading this I think of the Maui fires in terms of the sky and the stars disappearing. So much of life is unanticipated and unexpected.

I recently published a piece entitled “Help” which is about the unanticipated twists and turns we encounter. Oddly I mentioned something about the power company in that piece. To a large extent it was the power company in Maui and their poor safety equipment that enabled the fires to propagate in multiple locations. Few people knew about the lack of preparation on the part of the utility company. Then bang out of nowhere the fires were everywhere.

As I pointed out in #8 the government is very good at creating paperwork for little people but not so good enforcing safety codes on major corporations.

In some ways #8 was a rant but it’s hard to find much positive in the situation I was in at the time. Not as horrific as a firestorm but the cause had the same mother.

Sad but true. Reagan had it, govt is the problem, not the solution.

Once upon a time President Truman said that "the bucks stops here", he was talking about liability for government actions and in those days political figures were aware of this. That attitude has changed.
