Outstanding. You have given a life to the holly and ivy beyond any symbolization

Thank you. It was a difficult essay to write. I thought I was on to something but it was only an intuition. I don’t have a deep background in the area of Celtic history and the Druids so I tried to pursue my intuition from a Jungian standpoint. Taking apart symbols and rearranging them within the structure of the Christianized lyrics until I could see some light shining through. Like a treasure hunt I knew I was on to something. Then I stumbled on to the Arsenault video which I was totally unaware of its existence. At that point it started to click together. So now I was into my third or fourth rewrite but it was starting to make sense. This was a Solstice Carol. Finding the Arsenault video was a tumble in to entelechy, for want of a better way to put it.

Thank you. As I explained to Dr Smith this was a circuitous groping through the vegetation and not knowing who the Holly King was until recently tells a tale on me. My only explanation is the spirit of Brigid entering the nearby atmosphere and took me by the hand and while (as mortals do) I mucked about a gentle breeze carried me along.
